According to police, a passenger from the original incident exited the vehicle and carjacked another vehicle at gunpoint.

An officer attempted to stop the stolen vehicle, but the suspect opened fire, striking the officer. Authorities confirmed the officer’s gunshot wound was non-life-threatening.

The suspect, identified as a 16-year-old male, fled the scene and led officers on a pursuit. During the chase, additional gunfire was exchanged in the 4600 block of Thatcher Avenue. Officers eventually stopped the vehicle using a tactical vehicle intervention.

The teen suspect also sustained a non-life-threatening gunshot wound, was taken into custody, and transported to a local hospital. Due to his age, his identity has not been released.

The 10th Judicial District Critical Response Team is handling the investigation.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Pueblo Police at 719-553-2502 or remain anonymous by calling Crime Stoppers at 719-542-7867 (STOP).
