The Mother’s Day weekend ended tragically for one Landover family.
Leslie Yvette Davis, 54, of Palmer Park was discovered shot to death at her home on the 1900 block of Ray Leonard Road on Saturday afternoon, according to Prince George’s Police Department officials.
Davis’ daughters informed police that they went to the residence to pick up their children from a Mother’s Day weekend sleepover, only to discover that rounds had been fired through a bedroom window, killing Davis.
According to sources, authorities believe the young children remained in the residence with their deceased grandmother for up to 12 hours after the shots were fired.
A police spokeswoman told 7News on Monday that they don’t believe this was a random attack, but sources close to the inquiry say the case remains unsolved.
One of Davis’ daughters declined to speak on camera, stating that she and her children were too upset.
The victim’s next-door neighbor, on the other hand, is shocked that his friend is no longer alive.
William Jackson said, “I don’t know what they did, or why they did it, but I can’t find along with the rest of the neighbors in this area any justification for anybody hurting that lady.”
