A 24-year-old former Marine from Trenton has been sentenced to more than a year in jail for posting a violent terror threat targeting white people on social media, according to prosecutors.
Joshua Cobb was convicted for a 2022 post in which he wrote, “I want to cause mayhem on the white community,” and included detailed plans to carry out a mass shooting in Robbinsville, specifically naming a gym and grocery store as potential targets.
Authorities say Cobb later joined the U.S. Marine Corps in 2023 but was discharged in under a year. The motive behind his social media post and his short military tenure were not disclosed by officials.
Cobb’s case raises renewed concerns about online threats and the importance of monitoring potential domestic terrorism rooted in racial hostility.
He is currently serving his sentence and is expected to remain under strict supervision following his release.
