COLORADO SPRINGS — The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) announced Monday, May 19, that a minor has been arrested and charged with Second-Degree Murder in connection to a homicide from February 8.
On February 8, around 11 a.m., officers responded to a report of shots fired in the 3700 block of El Morro Road, near Hancock Expressway and South Academy Boulevard. When they arrived, officers found evidence of gunfire but no victim.
About ten minutes later, CSPD received another call about a shooting in the 2600 block of Granada Drive, just a few blocks south of the first scene. Officers discovered a vehicle containing two gunshot victims.
One victim, a 16-year-old male, was pronounced dead at the scene. The other victim, a male of unknown age, was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The suspect was arrested on Tuesday, May 13, and charged with Second-Degree Murder. In accordance with Colorado law, no further details about the suspect will be released.
