A 26-year-old Tehachapi man has been arrested in Las Vegas after allegedly carjacking a vehicle and leading police on a pursuit earlier this month, authorities said.
According to Tehachapi police, Luis David Zepeda was taken into custody on May 10 with assistance from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department. He is facing multiple felony charges, including carjacking, robbery, and felony evading.
The incident began on May 8 in the 800 block of Aspen Drive, where police responded to reports of a stolen vehicle. Investigators say Zepeda was identified as the suspect and allegedly claimed to have a firearm while stealing the vehicle and the driver’s wallet.
The stolen vehicle was later found abandoned at Meadowbrook Park, after which the suspect fled the area. Police pursued the vehicle, but Zepeda managed to escape across state lines.
Zepeda’s arrest concludes a multi-day investigation that involved coordination between California and Nevada law enforcement.
