A 4-year-old boy in Indiana was struck and killed while sitting in a bike trailer by a car that ran a red light, injuring two others.
Alan Marcelo Salas-Garcia’s father was using a Raymond Street crosswalk. His son was sitting in a trailer attached to the back of his bike. Running a red light, a Dodge Charger crashed with the bike and trailer before jumping a curb.
The automobile eventually came to a rest on the grass, and the driver fled on foot. However, the 4-year-old boy was murdered, while two others were injured. The car that was out of control collided with another vehicle.\
Night Watch Captain Don Weilhammer spoke to Fox 59 about the tragic event. “”The driver of the other vehicle that was struck by the Charger had the green light. So, the bicyclist was well out, almost to the median crossing it,” he told the outlet. “So, it wasn’t a thing where they were trying to beat the light. It had been a solid red for quite some time, enough time for the light to turn green. And the other car was obviously out in the intersection as well.”
2 Injured and 1 Dead With No Sign Of Driver
Alan, the 4-year-old boy hit by the automobile, was pronounced dead on the scene. His father and the driver of the second vehicle involved in the accident were both transported to the hospital. The family stated that both are in stable condition. However, the loss of their small kid will be devastating.
The driver of the out-of-control automobile fled on foot. A thorough search is underway, but no one has yet been found. The police verified that no arrests had been made. “Slow down, we have two families that are definitely going to be affected by this tragedy,” Don Weilhammer told the crowd. “It all could’ve been avoided if they weren’t speeding and hadn’t disregarded the red light.”
The death of the 4-year-old boy’s sibling and son has left his family devastated. His 17-year-old brother told news outlets about the incident. “I still can’t believe he’s gone,” he told the Star.
