A University of North Carolina basketball player was suspended following a sexual misconduct investigation, according to a report by The News & Observer.
Zayden High, 21, a 6-foot-9 forward, was found responsible for violating UNC’s sexual misconduct policy after allegedly recording a sexual encounter with another student without her consent last year. The student chose not to pursue criminal charges, instead filing a report with the university’s Equal Opportunity and Compliance Office to protect her privacy.
The EOC Office determined in late August that High had violated school policy. As a result, he served a one-semester suspension in the fall and re-enrolled this spring.
The student involved told The N&O she is “increasingly concerned” that UNC has not ensured High fully complied with the university’s sanctions.
A spokesperson for the UNC Athletic Department confirmed in a statement to The N&O that High “did not play with, travel with or participate in any official practice with the team during the 2024-25 season.”
High’s attorney, Sam Coleman of Hillsborough, did not respond to multiple contact attempts by The N&O over a weeklong period.
