A foot massage parlor just northeast of Houston has been closed by the state.
The Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) has issued a six-month emergency closure order for a massage establishment due to suspected human trafficking. The order requires the closure of 1&1 Foot Massage and forbids the operation of any other massage service in that area.
A routine TDLR inspection revealed multiple infractions, including a lack of essential licenses and consumer information signs. The inspector also discovered two unregistered employees performing services and noticed signs that staff were residing on the premises. Clothing, including lingerie, was discovered on the premises, and the business was advertised on illicit massage websites.
Authorities urge anybody who suspects human trafficking to call the National Hotline for Human Trafficking at 1-888-373-7888 or text HELP or INFO to BeFree (233733). In an emergency or if someone is in immediate danger, dial 911. You can also submit complaints against TDLR-regulated enterprises suspected of engaging in human trafficking.
