The Marion County Coroner’s Office revealed that a missing girl who was discovered dead near the Indianapolis airport in February died of a drug overdose.
According to Indianapolis police, Shaylee Snyder, 15, was first reported missing on February 10.
Investigators visited with the teen’s family two days after she went missing to obtain further information. According to IMPD, her relatives indicated she had no known medical concerns and did not believe she was in immediate danger. She also left the house without a cell phone, making it impossible to follow her.
Snyder’s body was discovered on February 22 near the Indianapolis airport in the 1800 block of Sigsbee Street.
The Marion County coroner found Thursday that the cause of death was “combined intoxication by methamphetamine and heroin.”
The death was declared unintentional.
