Police in Arvin seized multiple firearms, high-capacity magazines, and ammunition following a domestic violence call that escalated into a full investigation and search warrant execution.
On May 24, 2025, at approximately 10:09 p.m., Arvin officers responded to a reported domestic violence incident at a home on the 1700 block of Olivares Court. Upon arrival, they spoke with a woman who told officers she had been physically assaulted by her husband of 20 years.
According to police, the couple—who live together with their four children—were engaged in a heated argument that turned physical. One of the children reportedly witnessed the assault.
As officers investigated, they secured a search warrant to examine a gun safe located in the residence. Inside, they found multiple loaded high-capacity magazines, a large amount of ammunition, and several firearms, including two unregistered AR-15-style assault rifles.
Police say the suspect obstructed the investigation, refusing to hand over the weapons and delaying officers long enough to necessitate a warrant.
He was arrested and booked on multiple felony charges, including:
- Domestic violence
- Possession of unregistered assault weapons
- Possession of high-capacity magazines
- Child endangerment
- Obstruction of a peace officer
The Arvin Police Department emphasized that the safety of the victim and children remains a top priority.
The case is still under investigation, and all charges are pending review by the Kern County District Attorney’s Office.
