Parent tried to rescue child held by another couple, only to be hit with a brick and fatally run over by them

An Ohio man and woman have been arrested in connection with the vehicular homicide of a father of five children. The tragic incident took place last week in Ohio.

Authorities said the situation unfolded after a fight broke out between the victim’s 12-year-old son and another child. The other boy’s parents, 43-year-old A. Clayton and 46-year-old M. Adkins, allegedly detained the victim’s son against his will. When 37-year-old Norman, the boy’s father, arrived to retrieve his child, a heated argument broke out with the man. The woman then allegedly struck Norman in the head with a brick.

The conflict initially started between two boys. According to the victim’s family, Norman learned that his son was being held against his will by the other child’s parents following the altercation.

Norman had told relatives he planned to speak with the other boy’s parents, but when he arrived in their neighborhood, tensions quickly escalated between him and the couple.

After being hit with the brick, Norman attempted to leave the scene with his son. As they walked away, both defendants allegedly jumped into their vehicle, drove onto the curb, and intentionally struck Norman. He was rushed to the hospital but later died from his injuries.

Police located and arrested the suspects (SEE PHOTO) at their Ohio home. They were booked into the county jail, each facing one count of vehicular manslaughter.

During interviews with investigators, both defendants reportedly denied intentionally hitting the victim. However, evidence and witness accounts led authorities to charge them.

The victim’s family members have shared their heartbreak and outrage. One relative described the suspects as cowards, saying, “They’re cowards, he wasn’t. Norman was a heck of a guy.”

The local police department continues to investigate. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the homicide unit.

This heartbreaking incident has left the community mourning a devoted father who lost his life protecting his son.
