As Jeep Weekend unfolds on the Bolivar Peninsula, authorities are already making arrests, with 161 people in custody as of Saturday, according to the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office.
The haul includes 165 misdemeanor charges, 23 felonies, and the recovery of 30 firearms.
More than 520 cops from 16 agencies are on the scene, assisted by 30 EMS units, Life Flight support, and car checkpoints.
Traffic is being closely monitored. Visitors must enter through Honeysuckle Drive and exit via Stingaree Drive.
Officials say they will continue to monitor the crowds and provide updates as needed to ensure the event’s safety.
