An Omaha teen who fatally stabbed a 17-year-old girl has learned her destiny.
Kianna Opal, 19, was sentenced to 60 to 80 years in jail on Tuesday for second-degree murder and carrying a lethal weapon while committing a felony.
The court awarded her credit for serving approximately a year in prison, and she will be eligible for release in 29 years.
Omaha Police said the stabbing occurred early on May 12, 2024, at a residence at 52nd and Maple streets.
Ezra Sinkiawic, the victim, was driven to the hospital in a private vehicle before police arrived.
She later died from her injuries.
At the house, police arrested Opal, then 18 years old.
She was charged with first-degree murder, but she reached an agreement with prosecutors in February and pleaded not guilty to reduced charges.
