Mother Charged with Child Abuse Following Month-Long Investigation into Fire That Killed Son

A 29-year-old Lenoir County woman, Megan Nicole Tyndall, was charged Monday with felony child abuse after her 5-year-old son died from injuries sustained in a house fire earlier this year.

On January 21, deputies and firefighters from the Pink Hill Volunteer Fire Department responded to a fire on Shady Lane. The young boy suffered severe burns and succumbed to his injuries in March.
