A 29-year-old Lenoir County woman, Megan Nicole Tyndall, was charged Monday with felony child abuse after her 5-year-old son died from injuries sustained in a house fire earlier this year.
On January 21, deputies and firefighters from the Pink Hill Volunteer Fire Department responded to a fire on Shady Lane. The young boy suffered severe burns and succumbed to his injuries in March.
Following a thorough investigation, the Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office arrested Tyndall and charged her with felony negligent child abuse inflicting serious bodily injury.
Tyndall is currently held at the Lenoir County Jail under a $40,000 secure bond.
Authorities have not released further details about the cause of the fire or circumstances leading to the charges.
