A man used a pen with a hidden camera and placed it facing the toilet seat area to record The Cosmetics Company Store employees in Dolphin Mall, police said.
Police officers reported watching a video of Bernardo Pellicer, who was born in Cuba and lives in Kendall, “carefully looking for spots in the cleaning supply cart where he could place the pen.”
Another video, according to police, shows a victim who worked with Pellicer discovering the pen while using the restroom and asking, “What the [expletive] is this?”
Pellicer attempted to grab the pen away from the victim prior to police arrival, “touching her against her will,” according to police.
According to the police report, Pellicer confirmed he owned the pen but claimed it had “fallen off” his blazer as he was attempting to catch colleagues who he suspected were speaking about him in order to lose his job.
Pellicer stated that he was not feeling well, so fire rescue personnel transported him to HCA Kendall Hospital, where Sweetwater police officers detained him, according to records.
Correctional deputies from the Miami-Dade County Sheriff’s Office arrested Pellicer at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on Sunday night.
According to authorities, the films showed two victims, therefore Pellicer was charged with two charges of video voyeurism and one act of violence.
Detectives have requested anyone with information on this or other crimes to contact Miami-Dade County Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477.
