A Neshoba County man was arrested last week after reportedly attacking a woman with a chainsaw and a baseball bat.
John Thomas Harvey, 45, of 11601 Marty Stewart Drive, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault, according to Philadelphia Police Chief Eric Lyons.
On Friday, April 25, at approximately 11:45 p.m., PPD responded to a residence on Road 2612 near Northside Park off Old Highway 15 for a reported assault with injuries.
Officers discovered a female victim with lacerations on her arms, Lyons stated.
Investigators discovered that the victim had clashed with Harvey. According to Lyons, the disagreement escalated, and Harvey allegedly attacked the woman with both a bat and a chainsaw. Lyons stated that the attack resulted in cuts to the female’s arm.
Neshoba General received the victim and used about 25 staples to close her wounds.
Lyons stated that his police were assisted by deputies from the Neshoba County Sheriff’s Office, who went to Harvey’s known location in the county and arrested him on aggravated assault charges.
Harvey is still in the Leake County Detention Center, which holds the city’s convicts.
