A Texas City man has been sentenced to prison for murdering his mother with a machete in 2024.
According to an announcement from the Galveston County District Attorney’s Office, Jonathan Armand Taylor pled guilty to murder on Wednesday and was sentenced to 50 years in prison.

The murder happened on October 9, 2024. According to the DA’s announcement, Texas City officers rushed to a Wendy’s on Palmer Highway where Taylor had walked in covered in blood and requested that staff contact the police.
When authorities arrived, Taylor allegedly claimed to them he had killed his mother and provided them her address on Tarpey Avenue.
Officers arrived at the home and saw Regina McIntyre gravely injured on the floor near a machete, according to the release. They transported her to a hospital, where her injuries ultimately led to her death.
DNA evidence found on Taylor’s clothing and at the murder scene linked him to the crime. According to the announcement, the machete was confirmed as the murder weapon. According to the announcement, a medical examiner discovered McIntyre had at least 25 machete-related lacerations.
Galveston County sentencing
Taylor faced a five-year life sentence for murder. He accepted a plea agreement of 50 years in prison, which the statement states was agreed to by McIntyre’s surviving family members.
