U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement has apprehended Hyrum Baquedano-Rodriguez, a Honduran national who had previously faced significant felony convictions in Virginia. ICE officials claimed that the arrest took place on May 2 in Fairfax, after local authorities dropped charges against Baquedano-Rodriguez for kidnapping and burglary, which included the intent to conduct crimes such as murder and rape.
US Border Patrol initially captured Baquedano-Rodriguez on August 25, 2018, after he illegally entered the country near Yuma, Arizona, according to ICE. On January 22, 2019, a DOJ immigration court in Eloy, Arizona, released him on an immigration bond, and his stay in the United States has since come under legal investigation. Later, after receiving a notice to appear before an immigration judge, he became embroiled in legal proceedings on several occasions.
Following his initial arrest for immigration violations, Fairfax County Police arrested Baquedano-Rodriguez on three counts of indecent liberties and indecent exposure on November 9, 2021, as confirmed in a statement by Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin, who has emphasized security. “Protecting Virginians has been a top priority of our administration since day one, and it should be a priority for every leader at the federal, state, and local level,” said Youngkin, addressing reporters.
Records show that Baquedano-Rodriguez was convicted of many misdemeanors and minor felonies in 2022 and early 2023. These offenses included accessing property with the intent to damage, petty larceny, disorderly conduct, and contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile.
In the most recent development, Fairfax County Police arrested Baquedano-Rodriguez on June 17, 2023, on charges of abduction with purpose to defile and burglary with intent to commit violent crimes inside a home.
