The FBI Sacramento Field Office is offering a reward of up to $20,000 for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of Jesus Jose Astorga, who reportedly fled to Mexico to avoid prosecution for a Kern County murder.
If you have any information about Astorga’s whereabouts, contact the local FBI office, the nearest U.S. embassy, or submit a tip anonymously at tips.fbi.gov.
Astorga is connected to Durango and Sonora, Mexico. He is Hispanic, about 5’7”, with black hair, brown eyes, and noticeable scars on his head and face.
The Shafter Police Department says Astorga allegedly stabbed a man to death at an apartment in Shafter on October 15, 1999. On November 2, 1999, the Kern County District Attorney’s Office charged him with first-degree murder in Bakersfield Municipal Court.
On June 20, 2000, a federal arrest warrant was issued for Astorga in the Eastern District of California for unlawful flight to avoid prosecution.
“The FBI has a long-standing commitment to aiding our law enforcement partners and ensuring defendants face the charges brought against them—no matter how far they may run,” said Sid Patel, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI Sacramento Field Office. “Every family deserves an opportunity to seek justice for their lost loved ones.”
