On May 18, a woman flagged down a patrol officer and reported that the father of her child had assaulted her. The assault occurred on May 17 inside a car as they drove through Prince George’s County.
During this moment, the suspect punched and strangled the woman. He continued the assault when they arrived at the victim’s Waldorf home, and he choked her multiple times during the night.
When she attempted to exit her house, the suspect pinned her to the ground and remained on top of her for an extended period of time. He also took her cellphone. During the early morning hours of May 18, the victim was able to flee her home and find a neighboring police officer. The victim had numerous apparent injuries on her face and neck.
Officers responded to the victim’s residence and attempted to contact the suspect via phone and loudspeaker, but he did not answer. Officers then entered the property through an unlocked door and discovered the suspect in the attic, hidden under storage boxes. He was arrested without incident.
Yohance Omari Eubanks, 41, of Clinton, was charged with first-degree assault, false imprisonment, and other connected offenses. He is currently being held in the Charles County Detention Center without bond.
