MIDDLETOWN, NJ — A white sedan crashed into the United States Post Office building at 1601 Route 35 around 2 p.m. Tuesday afternoon. According to police, the driver accidentally pressed the gas pedal instead of the brake, causing the car to accelerate through the front door.
The police chief confirmed that there were people inside the building at the time, but thankfully no injuries were reported. The driver also escaped unharmed.
Emergency crews responded to the scene and are currently inspecting the building to ensure it is structurally safe.
