Placer County Man Sentenced to Maximum Five Years for Inappropriate Contact with Minor

A Placer County man has been sentenced to a maximum five years in state prison for inappropriate communication with a minor, the Placer County District Attorney’s Office announced Monday.

Michael George Beltram, 41, received the sentence from Judge Horst after being convicted on charges stemming from ongoing and escalating contact with a 14-year-old girl that began in November 2023.

What started as seemingly innocuous text messages asking about her day quickly escalated to inappropriate and disturbing requests. After the girl’s parents became aware, they contacted the Roseville Police Department, which warned Beltram to cease all communication.

Despite the warning, Beltram continued his efforts to contact the minor. According to the DA’s office, months later, he arranged for a third party to deliver a package to the girl. The package contained a cellphone, various items, and a handwritten note urging the teen to keep their communication a secret.

Messages recovered from the phone showed Beltram expressing romantic feelings and attempting to hide their interaction from authorities.

Beltram was subsequently arrested, convicted, and sentenced to five years in the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. He is also required to register as a sex offender under California Penal Code section 290.

The Placer County District Attorney’s Office highlighted the case on their official Facebook page, emphasizing the importance of community vigilance and the swift actions of law enforcement and the victim’s family in protecting the child.
