The Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) has charged two 20-year-olds from Chevy Chase and a juvenile from Silver Spring with armed robbery and related offenses for allegedly robbing four juveniles at gunpoint and attempting to force them to withdraw more money from an ATM on April 21, 2025, before fleeing when a police vehicle approached.
According to MCPD, “Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police—2nd District Investigative Section have charged 20-year-old Jason Castello, 20-year-old Nicholas Clarkson, and a juvenile male with an armed robbery on Monday, April 21, 2025, in the area of Woodmont Avenue and Old Georgetown Road.
The investigation has shown that at around 10:49 p.m., three suspects approached four adolescent victims at the location. One of the criminals took out a revolver and pointed it at one of the victims. The suspects then demanded and stole money and property from the victims. The perpetrators directed the victims to walk to a neighboring ATM to withdraw more money, threatening to kill them if they reported the crime to the authorities.
While escorting the victims to the ATM at gunpoint, the suspects observed an oncoming Montgomery County Police vehicle and fled the area. Detectives identified Castello, Clarkson, and a juvenile guy as the suspects following their investigation. Officers tracked down and detained Clarkson and Castello. Officers conducted a search and seizure warrant at their Chevy Chase residence on Friday, April 30, which resulted in the discovery of items of evidential significance.
Clarkson and Castello, both of Chevy Chase, were transferred to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit and charged with armed robbery, first-degree assault, using a firearm in the commission of a felony, and other offenses. Both are being held without bond.
An arrest warrant has been issued for the juvenile male suspect in Silver Spring, charging him with armed robbery, first-degree assault, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and other counts.”
