61-year-old man charged in connection with stabbing, 2024 crime in Raleigh

A man faces charges for attempting to kill at least five peace officers.

Deputies say suspect Miguel Borja tried to set someone on fire during the incident, according to KKTV, a sister station.

Borja then barricaded himself inside a home.

Authorities believe Borja triggered an explosion later on. Five first responders were hospitalized.

Miguel Borja faces multiple charges:

  • One count of Attempted First-Degree Assault

  • One count of First-Degree Arson

  • Three counts of Attempted Homicide

  • Five counts of Attempted Homicide of a Peace Officer

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), Colorado Springs Police Department Regional Explosives Unit, and Metro Crime Lab are assisting with the investigation.
