Local Search Efforts For Missing Teen Halted After Confirmed Sighting On Train To Chicago

The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office has halted local searches for a 15-year-old boy missing in the Battle Creek area after he was spotted on a train bound for Chicago.

Glenn Brown, 15, was last seen on Wednesday, May 7, leaving Pennfield High School. Deputies say he walked into the woods behind the building. His family has not heard from him since then.

He’s characterized as 5’11” tall and weighing about 150 pounds. He has blonde hair and blue eyes. According to investigators, Brown does not have a smartphone.

On Tuesday, deputies checked outbuildings and responded to public tips but were unable to locate Brown. The search continued Wednesday, with thermal imaging drones, ground searches with K9 teams, and assistance from a Michigan State Police helicopter.

Deputies said a confirmed complaint identified Brown alone on a train bound for Chicago. According to the CCSO, a witness observed him arrive in Chicago.

All pertinent information has been given to local authorities, and the investigation will continue in cooperation with Illinois law enforcement.

“While search operations in Calhoun County have concluded, our office remains committed to assisting partner agencies and following up on any credible information that may aid in locating Glenn,” the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office stated in a release.

Brown may be striving to hide to escape being seen. If you find Brown, don’t approach or chase him since he may flee. Law enforcement has also asked the public not to establish independent search parties.

If you know where Brown is or have seen him, please call Lieutenant Benjamin Hess at (269) 781-0880 or make an anonymous tip to Silent Observer at (269) 964-3888.

“We remain hopeful for Glenn’s safe return and thank the community for their support, vigilance, and cooperation throughout this search,” a press release from the CCSO said.
