The Indian Air Force (IAF) confirmed on Sunday that Operation Sindoor—launched in response to the deadly terrorist attack in Pahalgam by Pakistan-backed militants—is still ongoing, even after the ceasefire agreement between New Delhi and Islamabad, announced a day earlier by US President Donald Trump.
In an official statement on X, the IAF urged the public to avoid speculation and wait for an official briefing.
“Since the Operations are still ongoing, a detailed briefing will be conducted in due course. The IAF urges all to refrain from speculation and dissemination of unverified information,” the post read.
The IAF emphasized that its tasks in Operation Sindoor have been carried out with precision and professionalism, stating that the mission was executed deliberately and discreetly in alignment with national objectives.
The update comes shortly after reports of renewed hostilities along the border, despite the announced ceasefire. Pakistani forces reportedly began heavy shelling in the Rajouri sector and Srinagar, raising doubts about the stability of the truce.
Air defence systems were reactivated following multiple drone sightings, with Indian forces reportedly shooting down at least four drones near Army headquarters. Residents in Srinagar and Baramulla also reported hearing explosions, prompting concern and confusion.
Jammu and Kashmir’s Chief Omar Abdullah reacted sharply, posting:
“What the hell just happened? Explosions heard across Srinagar!!!”
Earlier that day, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, alongside Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, confirmed the deployment of the BrahMos supersonic cruise missile during the operation.
The IAF showcased its operational strength during the counter-offensive, launching precision strikes on terror hideouts in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir and Punjab province.
Between May 6 and 7, Indian forces targeted at least nine terror camps across the border, delivering a strong and strategic response.
