Deputies from the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office are investigating an armed robbery in the 400 block of San Marcos Drive in Greenwood that occurred early Sunday before 2:15.
According to deputies, three children were among the victims of this armed robbery. Two of the children planned to meet someone to buy illegal drugs.
Two of the children entered an automobile owned by a dealer. Two men then confronted them with firearms and robbed the children. Deputies said one of the men assaulted one of the victims, hitting him in the face and seizing his belongings.
While hunting for the suspects, deputies came to a house on Indianapolis’ west side near Morris Street. Deputies said they saw 20-year-olds Joseph A. Goodwin and Cooper Nelson.
Goodwin and Nelson are both facing multiple criminal accusations, including robbery and theft, and have been brought to Johnson County Jail.
“These juveniles are incredibly lucky this situation didn’t end in tragedy. With the rising number of homicides and gun-related incidents occurring just north of Johnson County, we must remain vigilant,” Sheriff Duane Burgess says. “This kind of behavior is unacceptable in our community. We are committed to enforcing all laws, not just selective ones, to protect our residents.”
