A 15-year-old died after Precinct Three officers responded to a gunshot behind a home on James Garfield Circle.
When police came, they discovered a person deceased from apparent gunshot wounds.
According to Precinct 3 Captain Jacquelyn Thomas, the victim is Zacarius Berry, 15 years old.
Berry lived in the neighborhood, according to police, but not at the house where he was found.
According to JPD, Berry was shot multiple times.
At this point, there is no word on a motive or what precipitated the incident.
Berry, a middle school student, was scheduled to graduate today.
Neighbors report to WLBT that his teacher stopped by to deliver his certificate, only to be informed that he had been shot and died.
This is an ongoing investigation.
So far, no suspects have been discovered.
