The following information has been provided by Northmont area police departments. The information listed in this column is considered public record and is available to anyone seeking information concerning what is provided below.

For purposes of this column, the term “arrested” or “charged” does not necessarily mean the person was taken into physical custody. It could also indicate that a summons was issued to the subject in lieu of physical custody.

All the people listed as “arrested” or “charged” are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Saturday, May 23

City of Union

Report 15-027319: Joshua P. Vagedes, 30, of Union, was arrested on a warrant issued by Englewood Police. He was taken into custody, released to an Englewood officer and transported to the county jail.

Sunday, May 24

City of Union

Report 15-027492: A dog bite was reported in the 100 block of Irongate Dr. The victim’s signed a refusal to prosecute form.

Monday, May 25

City of Union

Report 15-027756: Jordan W. Knox, 27, of Union, was charged with having physical control of a vehicle while intoxicated, possession of marijuana, and illegal use or possession of drug abuse instruments. He was issued a court summons and released to a friend.

Report 15-027707: The theft of a debit card and a PlayStation IV was reported in the 200 block W. Bointnott Dr.

Thursday, May 28

City of Clayton

Report 15-1007: A subject driving westbound on Westbrook Road reported that while driving between Barbanna Lane and Algoma Street something flew through his open driver’s side window. The driver heard a loud thud and upon arriving to his home on Rangeview Drive he noticed that light blue paintball had struck the inside of his car at the passenger side pillar that separates the front door and rear door. The victim said that there were no vehicles traveling in the opposite direction at the time and he did not see anyone standing near the roadway when the paintball entered his window. At about the same time this incident took place another Clayton officer took a report of light blue paintballs that struck the exterior of the Submarine House at 7850 N. Main St.

Report 15-1006: At approximately 8:15 p.m. unknown subjects shot light blue paintballs that struck the exterior of the Submarine House. The business is equipped with surveillance cameras and the owner intends to review the footage to see if a suspect can be identified.

City of Union

Report 15-028382: Zachary L. Arnett, 22, of Dayton 45404, was arrested on two warrants; one for a probation violation issued by Montgomery County Commons Pleas Court and a second warrant issued by Brookville Police for failure to appear for arraignment. Arnett was taken into custody, released to a Brookville officer and transported to the county jail.

Report 15-028337: Larredo J. Covington, 29, of Dayton 45410, was charged with soliciting without a permit. He was issued a court summons and released.

Clay Township

Report 15-1251-06: An officer was flagged down by employees of Sunoco at 6529 W. National Rd. who pointed out two subjects in the lot having a verbal argument. A second officer was requested. As the first officer approached one of the subjects and asked what was going on, the second subject involved in the argument stated, “He pulled a gun on me.” The first subject stated he had a Concealed Carry permit and that the gun was in his car and that he would go get it. The officer instructed the subject to stop. The officer then retrieved a .40 caliber Smith & Wesson from between the driver’s seat and center console that was loaded with one round in the chamber. The officer unloaded the gun and secured it. The subject who owns the gun was asked again what was going on and he stated the while at the intersection of Seybold and Shiloh Springs roads the other subject had rear ended his vehicle and fled. He stated he began chasing the other subject in order to get his license plate number. The driver of the second vehicle was questioned and he denied he had been involved in an accident. Police found no evidence to prove either vehicle had been involved in an accident. The owner of the gun was asked if he had pointed his gun at the other driver and he allegedly stated that when they reached Sunoco he had grabbed his gun. Kevin Jackson, 26, of Dayton 45402, was charged with failing to inform law enforcement officer of carrying a concealed weapon. He was issued a court summons and released.

Friday, May 29

City of Clayton

Report 15-1010: Unknown subjects fired a BB gun and shattered the passenger side window of a work van parked in a gated, rear parking lot at Stevens Electric. The business owner stated that over the last several months other vehicles as well as the building have suffered similar damage.

City of Union

Report 15—28518: Caleb R. Barber, 20, of Dayton 45419, was charged with theft without consent and forgery without. He was issued a court summons and released.

Report 15-028583: James Amburgey, 33, of Miamisburg, was arrested on a warrant for failure to appear issued by Moraine Mayor’s Court. He was transported to the county jail.

Saturday, May 30

Clay Township

Report 15-1278-05: Leroy Meyers, 62, of Lewisburg, was charged with failure to maintain assured clear distance after rear ending a vehicle on Upper Lewisburg-Salem Road.

Monday, June 1

City of Englewood

Report 15-029009: Police responded to Main Street at the Englewood Dam on the report of a single vehicle accident. Vernon R. Sells, 68, of Springfield, was charged with driving while under the influence, failure to reinstate license and possession of marijuana. He was transported to the county jail.

Tuesday, June 2

City of Englewood

Report 15-029324: Joseph C. Sherman, 26, of Piqua, was charged with assault after approaching a car occupied by his ex-girlfriend and a male subject at the Meijer gas station. Sherman allegedly opened the passenger side door and kicked the male victim in the face and chest more than once and punched the victim in the face and torso five to six times before fleeing the scene. Charges were forwarded to Vandalia Municipal Court which will issue Sherman a summons to appear.

Report 15-029335: Police responded to the 200 block of W. Wenger Road on the report of a burglary. Police found no evidence that the home had been entered, but did file a criminal damaging report due to the metal framing around a window being broken off.

Clay Township

Report 15-1306-06: A resident of Pleasant Plain Road reported receiving a letter from the IRS requesting that she verify her personal information and identity. After contacting the IRS she learned that a tax return had been filed using her personal information, but that it lacked all the required information to complete the return. She advised the IRS agent that she had not filed a return using the form the agency had received. The IRS reversed the return and flagged her account for further investigation and requested a police report to document the attempted fraudulent tax return.

Wednesday, June 3

City of Englewood

Report 15-029485: Unknown subjects removed soft canvas bag from a vehicle parked at the Carriage House Apartments containing notebook, a pair of headphones, a forklift operator’s license and laptop computer.

Report 15-029549: Police pulled over a motorcycle on S. Main Street for a speed violation and found the driver to be intoxicated. Jeffrey S. Stickler, 46, of Union, was charged with driving while under the influence, driving under the influence with a prior refusal to submit to a breath test in the last 20 years and speeding. He was transported to the county jail.

Thursday, June 4

City of Clayton

Report 15-1065: Felony theft was reported in the 3700 block of Willowcreek Dr. Unknown subjects entered an unlocked vehicle and removed a wallet from the center console along with Game Stop gift cards and case containing approximately 50 compact discs. One of the victim’s credit cards was used to make a purchase totaling more than $197 at the Englewood Meijer at 4:55 a.m. and a second purchase for more than $25. Another card was used to make a $50 purchase at Speedway. The victim’s driver’s license was also stolen.

Report 15-1067: Felony theft was reported in the 1100 block of Westbrook Road. Unknown subjects entered an unlocked vehicle and removed a woman’s wallet from the center console containing two bank cards, a Goodyear credit card, discount cards, and $15 cash. She contacted her bank and learned that unauthorized charges had been made on both bank cards between midnight and 4:30 a.m. at Meijer and Steak ’n Shake.

Report 15-1070: While on patrol southeast on Salem Pike an officer observed a silver Buick with Indiana license plates operating in an erratic manner. The vehicle turned left onto Old Salem Road, then south on Union Road and then turned back onto Salem Pike heading southeast. When the officer activated his overhead lights the vehicle continued to travel without pulling over until the officer sounded his siren. Upon making contact with the driver his hand shook noticeably when he handed over his license and proof of insurance. A passenger in the vehicle had highly constricted pupils and a low, raspy voice. After running the driver’s and passenger’s information it was discovered the driver had been in a previous traffic stop where a K9 was deployed for a free air sniff. The sniff resulted in the discovery of a negligible amount of marijuana and the cap to a hypodermic syringe. The officer asked the driver to step from the vehicle and when he did he immediately grabbed at the waistband area of his pants. The officer asked the driver to keep his hands in sight. The driver consented to a pat down search for weapons and placed his hands behind his back. As the officer took hold of the driver’s hands the driver shook heavily. The officer found no weapons or contraband on the driver and requested to search the vehicle. After receiving consent to search the vehicle the officer found a leather glove containing two hypodermic syringes, two spoons with residue on them and a few pieces of silver jewelry. The officer asked both subjects who the glove belonged to and the passenger stated it belonged to his cousin. The passenger was asked to step away from the driver at which time the officer noticed a long line bruised and scabbed puncture wounds in the crevice if the passenger’s left forearm and bicep. Aaron W. Bogue, 33, of Parker City, IN, was charged with possessing drug abuse instruments and transported to the county jail. The driver was issued traffic citations and released with a court summons.

City of Englewood

Report 15-029658: Jasmine D. Cotton, 25, of Dayton 45416, was charged with theft at Wal-Mart. She was transported to the county jail.

Report 15-029676: Jemea Hatea Vamila Peake, 28, of Dayton 45417, was charged with theft at Wal-Mart. She was transported to the county jail.

Report 15-029694: Bradley W. Landis, 25, of Brookville, was charged with theft at Wal-Mart. He was transported to the county jail.

Report 15-029704 and 15-029706: Police responded to Wal-Mart on the report of employee theft. Donavan J. Flucas, 18, of Trotwood, and Ge’onna Lanise Harris, 18, of Dayton 45417, were both charged with theft and transported to the county jail.

Clay Township

Report 15-1321-06: Bradley W. Landis, 25, of Brookville, was arrested by Englewood Police on a warrant issued by Clay Township through Western Division Court for violating a temporary protection order. Landis was taken into custody, released to a Clay Township officer and transported to the county jail.

Friday, June 5

City of Englewood

Report 15-029854: Police responded to Kroger on the report of a disorderly subject who had made an inappropriate comment to a female customer. Kevin M. Murray, 45, of Englewood, was charged with disorderly conduct, issued a court summons and released.

Report 15-029920: Lee A. Grubb, 26, at large, was charged with theft and possessing drug abuse instruments at Wal-Mart. He was transported to the county jail.

Report 15-029923: Matthew H. Tills, 37, of Clayton 45315, was charged with disorderly conduct/fighting at American Legion Post 707. He was also trespassed from the property. He was issued a court summons and released.

 

Saturday, June 6

City of Clayton

Report 15-1090: Police responded to a home in the 7800 block of Hoke Road on the report of a wanted subject on the property. Leah D. Jackson, 32, of Dayton 45410, was arrested on an active warrant. During a search of her possessions police located a used hypodermic syringe and a glass “one hit” pipe commonly used to smoke either crack cocaine or methamphetamine. Jackson was also charged with possessing drug abuse instruments and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was transported to the county jail.

City of Englewood

Report 15-030016: Failure to pay for more than $60 worth of gas was reported at Marathon.

Sunday, June 7

City of Englewood

Report 15-030157: While on Interstate 70 assisting the Ohio State Highway Patrol with a fatal crash an Englewood officer located an intoxicated subject on the highway. Frank D. Lane, 27, of New Lebanon, was charged with intoxication in the roadway and driving under suspension. He was issued a court summons and released to a sober driver.

Report 15-030256: Police responded to the Dollar Inn on an unknown problem. Upon arrival police found an intoxicated subject. Jeffrey P. Harrison, 52, at large, was charged with disorderly conduct while intoxicated. He was transported to the county jail.

City of Union

Report 15-030288: Unknown subjects threw a beer bottle at a vehicle parked in the 200 block of Sweet Potato Ridge Road.

Monday, June 8

City of Clayton

Report 15-1111: Police responded to VFW Post 7741 on the report of a theft. Unknown subjects removed eight medallions off the fence and several small flags. A large flag pole was removed from its base and carried down the parking lot where it was left lying on the ground.

Report 15-1113: Police pulled a vehicle over for not displaying a front license plate and discovered the driver was a wanted subject. Darnell L. Wilson, 24, of Jefferson Township, was arrested on two warrant issued by Western Division Court and was also charged with driving under financial responsibility act suspension and display of plates. A marijuana grinder and a small amount of marijuana were also confiscated. Wilson was transported to the county jail.
