ENGLEWOOD — The 41st annual Englewood Festival Parade is back this year and takes place Saturday August 8 at 9 a.m. The parade begins at the intersection of Union Boulevard and W. Wenger Road and finishes at the festival site in Centennial Park near National Road.
Preceding the parade will be the annual 5K Classic starting at 8 a.m. and finishing on the parade route.
Paul Harper will be honored by serving as Grand Marshal and leading the parade. Harper began his 39th year this past fall in the Northmont High School Athletics Department. He is responsible for the maintenance and preparation of all athletic fields. Harper takes great pride in his work to make sure each field is ready and safe to play. He truly loves the Northmont School District and has enjoyed watching the student athletics over the years.
Regardless of the event, Harper roots hard for the team in green. His dedication to this school district and the student athletes at Northmont is second to none. People will ask Harper when he plans to retire and he replies, “What would I do?”
Linda Bryan, festival chairwoman states that parade participants include bands, Northmont FISH, Scout Troops, cheerleading squads and many new units that everyone will enjoy.
A detailed schedule will be published the week of the festival.
