ENGLEWOOD — The Englewood Festival and Arts Commission is proud to present the 43rd annual Englewood Art Festival. Sponsored by the city of Englewood this free event will be held under the trees at Centennial Park, 321 Union Boulevard on August 13 and 14.
“Our festival is a fun weekend of events with several thousand attending,” said Linda Bryan, festival chairwoman.
Festivities begin Saturday at 8 a.m. with the 27th annual 5K Classic Run. The start/finish line is on Union Boulevard near Overla Boulevard. Pre- race day entry fee is $20 with T-shirt or $10 without. Entrants wanting shirts must register before July 31 and may register online at www.alliancerunning.com/race-entry.php?=18. Race day registration is $12 (no shirt) and runs from 7 to 7:45 a.m. at the Kindred Funeral Home parking lot. Immediately following the run the Festival Parade will roll down Union Boulevard.
Festival attractions include artist’s booths and community and civic displays. Exhibitor chairwoman Barb Franz states that many artists will be returning from previous festivals along with several new artists. Festival goers will find a variety of handmade items including lawn ornaments, wood carvings, glass beaded stainless steel serving pieces, along with beautiful watercolors and unique jewelry and pottery. Garber Farms returns again this year with their home grown produce and homemade jams and jellies.
Another festival favorite is a wide variety of food selections including bourbon chicken, pulled pork and beef brisket, pizza, homemade ice cream and a German “Bier Garden.”
Free entertainment is scheduled for both days. Vocalist Lauren Kelly will kick off Saturday’s entertainment at 11 a.m. followed by the Northmont High School Marching Band. DeBray, husband and wife musical duo, performs at 1:30 p.m. The 5 p.m. evening concert features Razzamatazz & Jazz. Sunday’s entertainment begins at 11 a.m. with singer/songwriter Megan Osman. The Englewood Civic Band will take the bandstand at 1 p.m. and Systems Go, the high energy group from the USAF Band of Flight, will close the festival entertainment beginning at 3 p.m.
Sunday’s events include a Cruise-In and Charity Auction with E/Rider car, truck, and bike show with registration running from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Proceeds benefit the Dayton Children’s Hospital.
