BEAVERCREEK — On Thursday, October 15 the Northmont DECA chapter competed in the DECA District 4 Fall Leadership Conference in Beavercreek.
The following students placed high enough in their event to qualify for the Ohio DECA Fall Leadership conference, where they will compete against students around Ohio to become an Ohio DECA state officer on November 18 in Columbus. In Public Relations the following students qualified Ryan Pullins 1st Place, Grace Counts 2nd Place, and 5th Place Emily Howard.
The following students were able to place in their respective events.
In the Job Interview event the following students placed Ashlee Oldham 2nd Place, Lauren Christian 4th Place, Kayla Woodruff 4th Place, Madison Harbaum 4th place, and Lanecia Smith 5th Place. The students whom placed the Public Speaking Event include Bethel Aseffa 1st Place, Naomi Baker 2nd Place, Kanani Oreyro 2nd Place, and Drew Mackay 4th Place. In the Sales Demonstration event the students whom placed included Carl Owensby 3rd Place, Taylor Ross 4th Place, Hannah Dranschak 4th Place and Tyler Defibaugh 5th Place. The following students were able to place in the series and principal events, Maddie Maiken 3rd Pace Principals of Marketing, Maddy Abner 3rd Place in Retail Merchandising, Kaitlyn Stose 2nd Place in Quick Serve and Mackenzie Dear 3rd Place in Hotel and Lodging.
“This was truly a great way to start the 2015 – 2016 DECA year,” said Eric Wagner, Northmont DECA advisor. “I think to have as many sophomores place as what we did says a lot about the future of the program and the direction in which we are going. I also think to bring home as many trophies as what we do is a great start and motivation to well in the spring and future competitions.”
