DAYTON — Northmont’s girls track team placed 3rd Friday at the Dayton Edwin C. Moses Relays while the boys team placed 9th out of 18 teams.
“We have a very solid team this year,” said Northmont Girls Coach Joe Barnes. “We were very close to finishing second and I am very proud of the girls with they have performed this year. We are so deep and that is why our relays are so much better than last year. I think we well over doubled our points this year. We had 25 points last year so I am very proud of what the girls have accomplished so far.”
The girls placed 5th in the 6400 relay (Melissa Barrett, Clara Leedy, Aubrey Kosak and Kimea Lawrence) with a time of 23:13.4.

The shuttle hurdle relay team of Leila Hill, Naomi Baker, Bethany Thompson and Ross took 1st place in 1:08.03.
“That shuttle hurdle team is unbelievable,” Barnes added. “They are great team and I think they are only going to improve. All of our relay teams are going to improve. Even though we did so well in year’s past this is the point in the season where we faded as a team, but this year I think we are growing and getting better.”
