Bullets Baseball to hold 2016 tryouts for 8U, 9U and 11U


DAYTON — The 8U Bullets Baseball team is having a very successful season playing in the Midwest Ohio Baseball League and tournaments around the Dayton and Columbus area.

The team is looking forward to moving on to kid pitch at the 9U level in 2016. Next year, the Bullets Baseball organization is adding teams. There will be an 8U team and at least one 9U and 11U team.

Tryouts for these teams will be held in July of this year.

Tryout 1 date and time: July 9 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Action Sports Center, 11103 Gateway Dr. Dayton, 11U Field No. 4, 9U Field No. 7, and 8U Field No. 8.

Tryout 2 date and time: July 18 from 11a.m. to 1 p.m. at Action Sports Center, 11103 Gateway Dr. Dayton, 11U Field No. 4, 9U Field No. 7, and 8U Field No. 8.

Note: Pre-registration and attending tryout No. 1 is highly encouraged but not required. Please use the correct email address below to be sent a pre-registration form.

The teams are looking for positive families that want to learn the game of baseball:

• Players can be from anywhere in the Greater Dayton, Springfield, Richmond area

• Practice will begin in early to mid-January and the season will go through July 4

• Bullets use indoor practice facilities at Action Sports and a brand new facility in New Carlisle

• Fees are $400 to cover uniforms, practice sites, league and tournament fees, umpires, etc.

• Each team will play 30+ league games, non-league games, and tournaments

• Home games are played at Action Sports

Coaches:

The Head coach Bullets 11U is Bruce Shiverdecker who has over 21 years of baseball coaching experience at the high school level as well as multiple years at the lower levels. He has a love of coaching and as a retired teacher loves teaching his players how to play and respect the game.

The head coach for Bullets 9U is Pat Carlisle, a career collegiate basketball coach and teacher. Coach Carlisle was a high school baseball player and has several years of youth baseball coaching experience. Currently, he is an assistant basketball coach at Wittenberg University and spent 17 years as a college coach, most notably at Columbus State College. Coach Carlisle has twice coached a collegiate national final.

The head coach for Bullets 8U is Tom Slentz, who has 15 years of coaching experience in football, wrestling, track and field, and baseball. Tom has been teaching Health and Physical Education at Northmont High School since 2001. Coach Slentz grew up in the Northmont School District and continues to give back to its community and to any other youth who takes an interest in sports.
