Lady Bolts win Treaty City Invitational

GREENVILLE — With five runners finishing among the top 20 the Northmont girls cross country team took first place Saturday at the Greenville Treaty City Invitational.

Sophomore Jordan Rife crossed the finish line in seventh place to lead the Lady Bolts with a time of 21:13. Senior Clara Leedy finished ninth in 21:37 followed by sophomore Aubrey Kosak in 10th with a time of 21:39. Senior Kimea Lawrence came across the line 15th in 21:59 with junior Melissa Barrett taking 20th in 22:03, freshman Abi Brown 29th in 22:30 and sophomore Caitlin Hoyng 30th in 22:48.

The Lady Bolts recorded a score of 62 to edge out a tough field that included second place Colerain (67), McAuley (70) and Troy (70) among the seven team field.

Troy’s Morgan Gigandet won the Division I girls race, which included 63 runners, with a time of 18:37.

The Versailles girls finished as the runner up in the Division II girls race behind Tippecanoe and ahead of Triad and Coldwater. Kara Spitzer led the Versailles girls as she finished third overall in the race in 20:57.

Tippecanoe’s Kaili Titley won the Division II girls race, which included 64 runners, in 20:08.

In the Division III girls race Franklin Monroe finished 10th, Bradford finished 11th, Ansonia finished 13th and Mississinawa Valley finished 14th. St. Henry won the Division III girls race, which included 14 teams. Nicole Brocious led the Franklin Monroe girls as she finished 30th with a time of 23:00. Twin Valley South’s Madison Wright won the Division III girls race, which included 123 runners, with a time of 20:08.

On the boys side Northmont placed sixth out of nine teams. Junior Ethan Shade placed seventh overall with a time of 17:54 to separate himself well ahead of the rest of his teammates.

Sophomore John Pierron finished 26th in 19:04, senior Jeremiah Robertson finished 30th in 19:13, senior Jacob Coleman finished 34th in 19:19, senior Robbie Spilker finished 38th in 19:39 with sophomores Jackson Weaver 51st in 20:44 and Justin Delano 53rd in 20:55.

Troy’s Stephen Jones won the Division I boys race in a time of 16:30, which included 71 runners.

Joe Spitzer won an individual championship and led the Versailles boys to the Division II team championship with a time of 17:43.

In the Division III boys race Franklin Monroe finished 12th and Bradford finished 16th while Ansonia and Mississinawa Valley didn’t have enough runners to record team scores. Houston won the Division III boys meet, which included 16 teams.
