The following information has been provided by Northmont area police departments. The information listed in this column is considered public record and is available to anyone seeking information concerning what is provided below.

For purposes of this column, the term “arrested” or “charged” does not necessarily mean the person was taken into physical custody. It could also indicate that a summons was issued to the subject in lieu of physical custody.

All the people listed as “arrested” or “charged” are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Friday, July 17

City of Union

Report 15-038448: Police stopped a vehicle for a speed violation and found the driver to be intoxicated. Sarah E. Melton, 36, of Kettering, was charged with driving while under the influence, refusal of a breath test with a prior DUI, driving under operating a vehicle intoxicated suspension and speeding. She was issued a court summons and released to a friend.

Saturday, July 18

City of Union

Report 15-038605: Breaking and entering was reported in the 200 block of E. Boitnott Drive. A Sony PlayStation III and PlayStation IV were missing from the residence along with one controller for each console, the power cords and HDMI cord.

Sunday, July 19

City of Union

Report 15-038788: Burglary was reported in the 100 block of McLaughlin Ave. Upon arrival police found the front door had been forced open causing damage to the door frame. An entertainment stand was knocked over with the TV face down on the floor along with a stereo system and game consoles. Nothing was missing from the residence. The victim advised she received a text message from her children’s father asking her if she could watch the kids. She said she already had plans but left the house so they would not get into a fight. She stated she was only gone for about 30 minutes and returned to find the front door kicked open and her electronics on the floor. A witness advised the children’s father had been at the home briefly, walked quickly to his car and drove off. Bobby Lee Roberts, 32, of Englewood, was charged with burglary. A warrant was issued for his arrest.

Monday, July 20

City of Union

Report 15-038989: Kristin M. Doerfler, 20, of Holden, LA, was charged with solicitation permit required. She was issued a court summons.

Tuesday, July 21

City of Clayton

Report 15-1379: Burglary was reported in the 5200 block of National Road. The resident arrived home after work and found the side kitchen door open. At the time she did not suspect a burglary. The next morning as the victim was letting her dog out she discovered a screen in the side yard. The screen was bent and had been removed from a window on the front of the house. She then noticed a ukulele and GPS unit was missing. Other items of value were not disturbed and the house was not ransacked.

City of Englewood

Report 15-039170: Police responded to Kroger on the report of a white male in his mid-30s fleeing the store after attempting to shoplift several items. Store personnel recovered all of the items, which the suspect left in a shopping cart outside the store as he fled across Union Boulevard and into an apartment complex.

Report 15-039186: A 17-year-old female was charged with theft and possessing criminal tools at Wal-Mart. She was transported to the Montgomery County Juvenile Detention Center.

Wednesday, July 22

City of Clayton

Report 15-1392: Unknown subjects broke into a trailer parked behind the Plaza Car Wash and removed a Craftsman pressure washer valued at $400.

Report 15-1397: Burglary was reported in the 3900 block of N. Montgomery County Line Road. Unknown subjects forced open the back door and broke the door frame. An HP Pavilion laptop computer from a living room chair and three jewelry boxes were removed from an upstairs bedroom. Two different neighbors reported seeing a lawn equipment truck parked in the middle of Rinehart Road just south of the victim’s residence. They stated the truck was parked in an unusual location due to there being nothing but corn fields on both sides of the road. No one in the area has their lawn treated with chemicals because everyone has a well and doesn’t want chemicals in their water. Two neighbors also reported seeing two white male subjects with blond hair in their early 20s riding a Kawasaki four wheeler. The four wheeler came south from Mote Road and proceeded to cross N. Montgomery County Line Road onto Rinehart Road. Behind the victim’s residence police observed tire tracks proceed to the east through two residential yards and disappear into a cornfield. The officer followed the tire tracks a quarter mile into the cornfield. The tire tracks continued east but the officer did not go any further.

Report 15-039359: Unknown subjects removed the rear license plate from a vehicle parked in the Meijer lot.

Thursday, July 23

City of Union

Report 15-039461: Police responded to the 100 block of Lightner Lane on a disturbance. Upon arrival an officer checked witness information and discovered one had a warrant. Ida M. Oliver, 67, of Dayton 45406, was arrested on a warrant issued by Trotwood Police for failure to appear. Oliver was taken into custody, released to a Trotwood officer and transported to the county jail.

City of Englewood

Report 15-039622: Unknown subjects broke the rear driver’s side door glass on a vehicle parked in the 100 block of Scott Drive.

Friday, July 24

City of Englewood

Report 15-039653: Rickey L. Shockley, 58, of Hartford, CT, was charged with assault on Lau Parkway. He was transported to the county jail.

Saturday, July 25

City of Englewood

Report 15-039973: Heather R. Hedges, 41, of Fairborn, was charged with theft by deception at Meijer after switching price stickers to make an item appear less expensive. She was issued a court summons and released.

Report 15-039995: Failure to pay for $30 worth of gas was reported at United Dairy Farmers.

Sunday, July 26

City of Clayton

Report 15-1420: Breaking and entering to a detached garage was reported in the 3500 block of Sweet Potato Ridge Road. A Briggs and Stratton XL4000 5300 watt generator was stolen along with two lawn mowers, a red power washer, a Black & Decker weed trimmer and approximately four to five batteries, a DeWalt battery operated drill, and a Poulan chain saw.

City of Englewood

Report 15-040179: Joshua A. Bright, 34, of Union City, was charged with theft at Meijer. He was issued a court summons and released.
