UNION — The History of the Dayton Police, Preserving Dayton’s Police Past will be presented at Mill Ridge Village on Tuesday, August 4 at 10:30 a.m. Steve Grismer, secretary-treasurer of the Dayton Police History Foundation, Inc. will be the speaker.
Come learn about the proud and accomplished history of Dayton, Ohio’s police force. This is a story that the public has yet to discover and fully appreciate. There are many facets of the police service in Dayton that make it illustrative of Midwest police development but also give the Dayton police force unique historical standing on a national level. The history of law enforcement in Dayton goes as far back as the beginning of its settlement and embodies the story of Dayton itself. Did you know, in 1904 Dayton issued the world’s 1st speeding ticket? John Dillinger was arrested by Dayton police in 1933? This and many more little known facts will be brought to life.
