ENGLEWOOD — At the Tuesday, December 13 Englewood City Council meeting, Mayor Patricia Burnside will recognize three local youths for their actions on the morning of November 15.
On that morning, during the walk to their school bus stop, three middle school students discovered a shotgun lying on the sidewalk. Recalling lessons learned from annual firearm safety presentations given by Englewood’s School Resource Officer, the three contacted an adult to report the discovery and did not touch or handle the shotgun. By doing the “right thing,” a potential tragedy was prevented and the loaded gun safely removed by the police department.
Mayor Burnside has invited students Emma Campbell, Megan Campbell, Riley Warnick and their families to Tuesday night’s City Council meeting to be recognized for their actions.
The City Council meeting begins at 7:30 p.m. and is held at the Englewood Government Center, 333 West National Road, Englewood.
