ENGLEWOOD — Saturday’s high wind wreaked havoc throughout the Miami Valley and toppled many trees.

This pine tree on Kinsey Road just east of Pineview Drive was snapped off at the base of the trunk closing Kinsey between Taywood Road and Pineview Drive. A utility pole adjacent to the pine was also split but remained standing.

A pine tree on Savina Avenue fell on top of an SUV trapping a driver and her dogs inside. Clayton Fire Department responded to the scene but waited until police removed the pit bulls in the vehicle before removing the female driver.

The tree crushed the roof of her vehicle so far that when fire personnel arrived her head was projecting through the glass sunroof. She was transported to the hospital for treatment of head injuries.
