CLAYTON — Salem Church of God invites the community to participate in its Holy Week gatherings, which will include two Easter worship services on March 27 and a Good Friday observance on March 25.
“Behold, the Cross,” the Good Friday service, begins at 7 p.m. in the Salem Worship Center. It has grown into an annual community gathering and will feature music, scripture and contemplation of Holy Week in the life of Jesus Christ. Those attending will be reminded of all the cross and Crucifixion meant more than 2,000 years ago… and of their relevancy today.
The music, a special multisensory environment and multimedia will combine to create an atmosphere of reflection and prayer. Those attending will have the option to participate (or observe) in singing, Communion, lighting a candle or kneeling to pray at the altars.
No childcare will be offered on Good Friday. Youngsters are encouraged to sit with their parents to experience and understand this significant day in the life of the church.
On Easter, indentical celebration worship services are set for 9:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. in the Salem Worship Center.
“Easter is the most anticipated and vibrant gathering of the year, as we celebrate the hope that a risen Christ offers us,” said David Boots, Salem’s worship pastor. “The one-hour services will be a highlight of the season, with the Worship Center filling with individuals and families from the Dayton area and surrounding communities.”
The Salem choir and orchestra will provide a backdrop for the Easter experience, augmented by multimedia, visuals and a compelling message, as Lead Pastor Steve Southards launches a new teaching series, “Unbelievable.” The series will take an in-depth look at six “unbelievable” stories from the life and ministry of Jesus and apply the truth from each to our lives today.
Childcare for ages three and younger will be available for each Easter service.
