Allen promoted to lieutenant

UNION — Chris Allen, a 12-year member of the Union Police Department was promoted to lieutenant on October 19.

He served as detective since April 1, 2013. A graduate of Tecumseh High School he followed in father’s footsteps by entering law enforcement with the Village of Lawrenceville in Clark County. He started part-time with Union on July 1, 2003 and became a full-time office January 10, 2005.

His father, T.J. Allen, served as police chief with the Madison Township Police department for several years.

“I am grateful for this opportunity to serve the citizens of the fine City of Union,” Allen said.

“We are extremely excited to have Chris as our new police lieutenant,” said Mike Blackwell, chief of police. “Chris has been with our department since July of 2003. He started out as a part-time officer and was promoted to full-time in January of 2005. He worked his way from patrol officer to detective and has earned this promotion. Chris has received numerous compliments throughout the years for his work dealing with ranging from OVI enforcement to case investigations. I am confident Chris will continue to make a positive impact within the department and the community as our new Lieutenant.”
