The following information has been provided by Northmont area police departments. The information listed in this column is considered public record and is available to anyone seeking information concerning what is provided below.

For purposes of this column, the term “arrested” or “charged” does not necessarily mean the person was taken into physical custody. It could also indicate that a summons was issued to the subject in lieu of physical custody.

All the people listed as “arrested” or “charged” are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Friday, Oct. 16

Clay Township

Report 15-2573-10: During a traffic stop police discovered a passenger in the vehicle that was a wanted subject. Justin R. Taylor, 30, of Van Wert, was arrested on a felony warrant. Taylor was taken into custody and transported to the county jail.

Sunday, Oct. 18

City of Englewood

Report 15-057299: Police responded to Bolt’s on the report of a disorderly subject. Chanessa Church, 34, of Union, was arrested on a warrant issued by the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office. She was transported to the county jail.

Monday, Oct. 19

City of Clayton

Report 15-1969: Unknown subjects wrote graffiti and obscene language on work trucks parked behind Benjamin Franklin Plumbing. The writing appeared to be in white chalk and wiped off when touched. A letter was also placed in the business’s mailbox containing Styrofoam crumbles and a cigarette butt. The envelope contained two papers with obscene writing and a separate paper stating, “Smoke the weed.”

City of Englewood

Report 15-057625: An unknown white male subject fled Meijer without paying for a bottle of pop. The suspect fled into the wooded area south of the business and was later observed jumping into a waiting vehicle which headed south on State Route 48.

Tuesday, Oct. 20

City of Clayton

Report 15-1974: Police responded to the 5400 block of Westbrook Road where a resident advised that someone had tried to raise her bedroom window. The next day someone damaged the screen to her living room window.

City of Englewood

Report 15-057754: A 16-year-old male was charged with being a runaway. Charges were forwarded to juvenile court.

Report 15-057813: Joshua J. Johnson, 33, of Greenville, was charged with theft at Wal-Mart. He was transported to the county jail.

Report 15-057795: The theft of a purse was reported in the 800 block of Union Blvd.

Wednesday, Oct. 21

City of Englewood

Report 15-057854: Matthew F. Hoppel, 34, of Englewood, was charged with driving without an operator’s license. He provided information to police that did not match his identity. Hoppel was transported to the county jail.

Report 15-057895: The theft of a cart full of groceries was reported at Kroger. A store employee advised a large black female pushed the cart to a tan two door vehicle with no license plate and fled east on Wenger Road.

Report 15-058048: Police responded to the 7200 block of Hoke Road on the report of a male being dumped in the roadway. Police located the subject who appeared to be overdosing on drugs. A medic responded and treated the male with Narcan. Medic personnel located three clear capsules with a white substance that the male admitted was heroin. He was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital for treatment. Stephen A. Garner, 34, of Ansonia, was charged with possession of drugs and disorderly conduct and issued a court summons.

Thursday, Oct. 22

City of Englewood

Report 15-058205: Dwayne L. Echols, 47, of Dayton 45406, was charged with theft at Kroger. He was transported to the county jail.

Friday, Oct. 23

City of Clayton

Report 15-1992: Felony theft was reported in the 4500 block of Skylark Dr. An elderly female resident advised that she hired a tree company to trim her trees and a few days later a white male, approximately 30 years old with red hair, came to her door claiming to be with the tree company. He offered to plant bushes and shrubs on her property and convinced her to write him a check for $2,300 so he could purchase the items. After giving the man the check she has not heard from him since. The check was deposited at Wright at Wright Patt Credit Union in Huber Heights under the name Clayton Sutter. Police checked with the tree company and they stated no person by that name has ever worked for them.

City of Englewood

Report 15-058270: Rebecca M. Mitchell, 49, of Englewood, was charged with domestic violence. She was transported to the county jail.

Saturday, Oct. 24

City of Clayton

Report 15-2003: Criminal damaging to a vehicle was reported at Winston Woods Apartments.

Sunday, Oct. 25

City of Clayton

Report 15-2015: Unknown subjects shot and shattered the rear window on a vehicle with a BB gun at Winston Woods Apartments.

City of Englewood

Report 15-058887: Police responded to the 400 block of Heather St. on the report of a vehicle crash. Upon arrival police found a red Pontiac Sunfire in the middle of the street with heavy front end damage with a male leaning against the vehicle. A legally parked vehicle had sustained heavy damage to the rear end. While speaking to the driver of the Pontiac police detected an odor of alcohol. Corey M. Cooper, 23, of Englewood, was charged with driving under the influence, driving under the influence with a blood alcohol content above .17 percent, driving under suspension, failure to maintain reasonable control and driving with expired plate. Cooper registered at .229 percent on a breath intoxilyzer test. He was transported to the county jail.
