DAYTON — To get kids ready for school, Good Neighbor house is holding an outdoor Book Fair Saturday, August 8 from 1 to 4 p.m. and offering free books and school supplies for kids entering school. Good Neighbor House is located at 627 East First Street in Dayton.
Children must be between kindergarten and 8th grade and may select up to five books (or 20 per family). Guests with children present can enter a raffle to win backpacks full of school supplies. Healthy snacks, sidewalk games, a coloring table, kids’ music and story time will keep children entertained while parents can sign up for Head Start and childcare services. Access to Good Neighbor House medical/dental services will also be available.
Studies have shown that children who are read to daily do better when they start school and are better behaved.
Good Neighbor House, a faith-based nonprofit organization, empowers community neighbors to be healthier and more independent. We provide dental, medical and vision services; a food pantry, clothing and household items for families in need; and wellness programs that focus on teaching neighbors how to become more self-sufficient.
