Police reports from Northmont area law enforcement agencies

The following information has been provided by Northmont area police departments. The information listed in this column is considered public record and is available to anyone seeking information concerning what is provided below.

For purposes of this column, the term “arrested” or “charged” does not necessarily mean the person was taken into physical custody. It could also indicate that a summons was issued to the subject in lieu of physical custody.

All the people listed as “arrested” or “charged” are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Thursday, Feb. 25

Clay Township

Report 16-465-02: Adam M. Fetters, 35, of Piqua, was charged with having physical control of a motor vehicle while under the influence after he was found sleeping in the driver’s seat of his vehicle in the Sunoco parking lot after business hours. He was issued a court summons and released to a sober driver.

Friday, Feb. 26

Clay Township

Report 16-471-02: Police were dispatched to the 20 mile marker on westbound Interstate 70 on the report of a vehicle parked in the median. The officer found a white female driver unconscious and not responsive. The officer observed a pink straw and a capsule containing heroin clutched in her left hand. The officer had to break the passenger side window to gain entry to the vehicle. The officer moved the gear shift lever into park, turned off the ignition and removed the keys. Attempts were made to revive the driver. At one point she stopped breathing/ The officer tilted her seat back and removed vomit from her mouth at which point she started breathing again. A good Samaritan, who turned out to be a physician’s assistant, stopped to help the officer. Brookville EMS personnel arrived and removed the driver and transported her to the Good Samaritan North Health Center emergency room. An Ohio State Patrol trooper arrived and took control of the scene.

Saturday, Feb. 27

Clay Township

Report 16-486-02: Daniel K. Brown, 32, of Brookville, was charged with consuming alcohol in a motor vehicle after a vehicle he was a passenger in was pulled over for a marked lanes violation. Brown was issued a court summons and released.

Report 16-489-02: Police responded to an injury crash on Brookville-Salem Road at State Route 49. Upon arrival police discovered the driver of the car that caused the crash had been consuming alcohol. Virginia L. Hatmaker, 47, of Brookville, was charged with driving while under the influence and stop sign violation. She was issued a court summons and released to a sober driver.

Monday, Feb. 29

City of Englewood

Report 16-012420: An 8-year-old was charged with being unruly on Cutlass Drive. Charges were forwarded to Montgomery County Juvenile Court.

Wednesday, March 2

City of Englewood

Report 16-012752: Codi J. Crafter, 28, of Dayton 45404, was charged with theft at Meijer. He was transported to the county jail.

Friday, March 4

City of Englewood

Report 16-013107: The theft of an iPod was reported at a residence on Winding Wheel Way. A relative who was visiting is suspected of the theft due to having a problem with heroin addiction.

Report 16-013131: Jacquelyn M. Sylvester, 56, of Englewood, was arrested on a warrant through Moraine Mayor’s Court. She was taken into custody and transported to the county jail.

Saturday, March 5

City of Clayton

Report 16-485: A resident in the 100 block of Prospect Avenue reported heard a noise at 2:30 a.m. and upon coming outside later in the morning discovered the rear windshield of her vehicle smashed. Unknown subjects broke the glass with a piece of asphalt. The victim’s purse was left undisturbed on the front passenger seat.
