DAYTON — Prosecuting Attorney Mat Heck, Jr. announced Friday that David Savage, 61, has been indicted for causing the death of 47‐year‐old Steven Johnson, whose body was discovered in a Clay Township nursery.

On Monday, October 8 a worker reported to police that he had discovered a sleeping bag with a body inside on the grounds of A. Brown and Sons Nursery on Arlington Road in Clay Township. Inside the sleeping bag, Deputies found the deceased body of Johnson.

An autopsy determined the identity of the victim, and that he had died as a result of blunt force trauma.

Further investigation determined Johnson had been murdered inside a home in the 4500 block of Eichelberger Avenue by Savage.

Friday, the Montgomery County Grand Jury indicted Savage on:

• One count of Murder

• One count of Felonious Assault

• Two counts of Tampering With Evidence

• One count of Gross Abuse of a Corpse

Savage was arrested in Wisconsin and was extradited back to Montgomery County. He is currently in custody in the Montgomery County Jail, being held on a $1 million bond. He will be arraigned on Thursday, November 15 at 8:30 a.m.
