Clayton man indicted for child pornography

Staff Report

DAYTON – Prosecuting Attorney Mat Heck, Jr. announced today that Patrick B. Smith, 23, of Clayton, has been indicted on 40 counts related to child pornography.

In April the Montgomery County Prosecutor’s Office was advised by the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force that Smith’s computer IP address had been identified as sharing child pornography over the Internet.

Prosecutor’s Investigators obtained and served a search warrant on Smith’s residence. A number of electronic devices were seized. A search of those devices uncovered additional child pornography.

All of the images found are of known child pornography and are not photos produced by Smith.

Today, Smith was indicted on:

• 23 counts of Pandering Obscenity Involving a Minor

• 17 counts of Pandering Sexually Oriented Material Involving a Minor

A warrant has been issued for Smith’s arrest. He is scheduled to be arraigned on Thursday, September 14 at 8:30 a.m.
