ENGLEWOOD — Area residents will soon have another restaurant to choose from among the more than 50 featured in the city of the Englewood.
Popeye’s Louisiana Kitchen is building a 2,791 square foot restaurant on an out lot in the Englewood Gateway Shopping Center that is currently home to a new Aldi, Dollar Tree, Petco, Rapid Fired Pizza, Kay Jewelers, Firehouse Subs and Sports Clips.
According to Development Director William Singer, site work has been started and the restaurant should be ready to open by late summer or early fall.
“We are excited about a different eatery opportunity in town for folks to enjoy,” Singer said. “We are looking forward to the next phase of development for the Englewood Gateway Shopping Center.”
According to the company website, Popeyes was founded in Atlanta in 1992 as AFC Enterprises, Inc., as a developer, operator and franchisor of quick-service restaurants under the trade name, ‘Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen and Popeyes Chicken & Biscuits. IN 2014 AFC Enterprises, Inc., changed its corporate name to Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen, Inc., and is traded on NASDAQ under the ticker symbol “PLKI.”
