ENGLEWOOD — An Oktoberfest and a ribbon cutting ceremony was held at Brookdale Centennial Park senior living community last Thursday to celebrate a nearly half million dollar renovation of the facility.

“We have a completely brand new dining room, carpeting, all new fixtures and furniture throughout the facility, so that is what we are here to celebrate today,” said Mark Spirk, director of the facility. “We felt what better way to celebrate than to hold an Oktoberfest.”

The Oktoberfest featured a wide variety of German food, beer and other beverages located at various stations in the facility. Those attending were encouraged to take a tour so that they could see all of the amenities Brookdale Centennial Park offers and to make stops at the various food stations.

“I am very happy that you got your renovation completed. This is a wonderful facility,” said Englewood Mayor Patricia Burnside. “I took a tour a year ago when I was here and I thought it looked really good then.”

Brookdale resident Carroll Newman had the honor of cutting the ribbon in recognition of the renovation celebration. He was flanked by Northmont Area Chamber of Commerce CEO Cathy Hutton and Mayor Burnside as he made the cut.

Brookdale staff members escorted guests on tours of the facility following the ribbon cutting.
