ENGLEWOOD — The Englewood Festival and Arts Commission is proud to present the 42nd annual Englewood Art Festival.
Sponsored by the city of Englewood this free event will be held under the trees at Centennial Park, 321 Union Boulevard on August 8 and 9. Festival hours are 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.
Festivities begin Saturday at 8 a.m. with the 26th annual 5K Classic. The start/finish line is on Union Boulevard near Overla Boulevard. Entry fee is $17 with T-shirt or $8 without. Entrants wanting shirts must register before August 1. Race day registration is $10 (no shirt) and begins at 7 a.m. at Kindred Funeral Home. Race day registration ends at 7:45 a.m.
Linda Bryan, festival chairwoman is pleased to announce the Festival Parade, beginning at 9 a.m., is back this year. Several new participants have been added that everyone will enjoy.
“Our festival is a fun, popular event with many attending,” Bryan said.
Festival attractions will include over 100 booths including artists, and community and civic displays. Exhibitor chairwoman Barb Franz states that many artists will be returning from previous festivals along with several new artists. From lawn ornaments to handmade intricate woodcarvings, pottery, jewelry, farmers market and many more, festival goers will find a variety of talents.
Another festival favorite is a wide variety of food selections including bourbon chicken, pulled pork and beef brisket, pizza, homemade ice cream and a German “Bier Garden.”
Free entertainment is scheduled for both days. Vocalist Lauren Kelly will kick off Saturday’s entertainment at 11 a.m. followed by the Northmont High School Marching Band in concert. Jim McCutcheon, ‘The Guitar Man’ will perform at 1:30 p.m., and the 5 p.m. evening concert will feature the 50s, 60s and 70s group, The Avalons. Sunday’s entertainment begins at 11 a.m. with Razzamatazz & Jazz. The Englewood Civic Band will perform at 1:00 p.m. and Systems Go from the USAF Band of Flight will close the festival entertainment beginning at 3 p.m.
Sunday’s events include a Volksmarch beginning at 8 a.m. and a Cruise-In and Charity Auction with E/Rider car, truck, and bike show with registration beginning at 9 a.m.
