DAYTON — Montgomery County Prosecuting Attorney Mat Heck, Jr. announced that 35-year-old Douglas V. Keechle, of Clayton, was sentenced for breaking into a Clayton home and driving a stolen car.

During the early afternoon hours of Sunday, October 26, 2014, a neighbor witnessed the defendant breaking into a home on Kimmel Road, in Clayton. The witness called police who responded and found the defendant with items from the home, as well as being in a car that had been stolen from a residence in Vandalia.

“This arrest and conviction is thanks in large part to an alert neighbor who did not hesitate to become involved and called the police when something seemed suspect. The Clayton Police Department did an excellent job as well. They responded quickly enough to catch this repeat felon,” Heck said.

On July 23 the defendant was found guilty as charged of burglary and receiving stolen property.

Today, the defendant was sentenced to serve two years in prison, followed by six months in the Monday Program, five years of probation and three years of post‐release control. The defendant has previously been convicted multiple times for receiving stolen property, as well as aggravated possession of drugs, escape and other charges. This defendant has been in and out of prison, including Federal prison, for past crimes.
